Landscapes

1. Where is one place on the internet you might go to better prepare yourself for the location you are shooting at?
I would go to like really famous or recent places where people go to the most so I would go the lake here in Austin.

2. What is one app you might download to help you when trying to pick the best angle to take landscape photos?
I don't really know any apps but wouldn't want one i would figure it our just by trying different angles.

3. What is the biggest problem shooting with a zoom or telephoto lens?
In reality I’ll get MORE blur when shooting a telephoto lens than it would with a standard sized lens

4. Instead of using the HDR method you learned in my class, what is another technique the website suggest would be acceptable for compensating for sky and ground?
You could use an ND grad filter

5. List three things you should always carry in case of bad weather.

  • A strong, waterproof plastic bag (a bin-bag is perfect)
  • Carry plenty of cleaning cloths for the lens glass and filters
  • A microfibre towel for drying off the camera body and lens.
6. Why would pre-scouting help you when shooting?
You would already know what you are going to do, or you can come up with different ideas. It's good to plan early and know what's going on

7. Is subject or composition more important in landscape photography?
Yes because if you stick to one composition, your shots can end up looking similar and slightly boring.

8. What is the suggested procedure to create simple, yet striking images?
start with the main subject then include other elements, usually one at a time, to see if they will fit into the composition without detracting from the main subject. Keep checking that all of the elements of the scene work together, and that the main element you identified at the start is still what your eye is drawn to.

9. Why black and white?
The first is a heavy, cloudy sky, produces very monochromatic results. The second is when there are fluffy clouds in a bright, blue sky.

10. Why would you want to go back to a location you have already been?
Because you can and if you go back you might be able to see the difference in the way the light, seasons and weather change a scene is one of the most fundamental aspects of landscape photography.
